Thunder Gulch sired the CCA Oaks winner Tweedside from a ROBERTO mare and the Santa Anita Oaks winner Balance from a mare by Roberto’s son KRIS S. His good daughter Thunder Days is out of a mare by SILVER HAWK, another son of Roberto, and he has a stakes winner with a LEAR FAN dam, so this cross merits serious consideration. He could also suit daughters of Roberto’s big son DYNAFORMER. He also has a Gr.3 winner from four foals out of SAINT BALLADO mares.

Thunder Gulch’s Gr.1 winner J. B.’s Thunder is out of an UNBRIDLED’S SONG mare and therefore has 3x5 inbreeding to MR PROSPECTOR. With a CONQUISTADOR CIELO mare as his dam, the Kentucky Derby second Invisible Ink is inbred 3x3 to Mr Prospector, while the Gr.3 winner Better Now is inbred 3x4, the latter’s dam being by UNBRIDLED.

Inbreeding to RAISE A NATIVE helped provide Thunder Gulch with some of his greatest successes. Point Given is out of a mare by Alydar’s son TURKOMAN and is therefore inbred 4x4, while the Gr.1 winner Circular Quay is out of a mare inbred 4x4 to Raise A Native.

Thunder Gulch has numerous good winners inbred to Northern Dancer. His very successful daughter Mystic Lady is inbred 4x3 to Northern Dancer, her dam being by Compliance, a brother to EL GRAN SENOR, and he also has a Gr.3 winner out of a NUREYEV mare. Graded winners inbred 4x4 to Northern Dancer include Thunder Bertie (dam by a son of NUREYEV), Stylish and the Japanese Gr.1 winner Iide Kenshin (dams are by THEATRICAL, another son of NUREYEV), Sense of Style (dam is a grand-daughter of NIJINSKY), and Veil of Avalon (dam by the LYPHARD horse ALZAO).

Another advertisement for inbreeding to Northern Dancer through Thunder Gulch is the Gr.1-winning Circular Quay. This winner of the Hopeful Stakes is out of a mare inbred 3x4 to Northern Dancer, through DANZIG’s son BELONG TO ME and NIJINSKY’s son SHADEED. Thunder Gulch’s Tempest Morn, an Australian Gr.1 winner is inbred 4x4 to Northern Dancer.

Several stakes winners by Thunder Gulch have VAGUELY NOBLE blood, through Regal And Royal, Gay Mecene and Vaguely Noble himself. This links to the Hyperion blood in his pedigree.
