There is every reason for expecting this very good-looking Derby winner to shine as a stallion, especially now that another Derby-winning son of Montjeu has sired the stupendous Treve. An impressive winner at two, Pour Moi showed his brilliant acceleration with last-to-first victories in the Prix Greffulhe and the Derby at three.

With a son of Sadler’s Wells as his sire and a dam by Darshaan, Pour Moi is bred along similar lines to another Derby winner in High Chaparral. His exceptional sire Montjeu has sired four winners of the Epsom Derby in the space of eight years.

High Chaparral works with further MILL REEF blood as seen by Gr.1 runner-up Lady Darshaan, inbred 3x3 to DARSHAAN, and the Gr.1 performer Magadan, inbred 4x3 to SHIRLEY HEIGHTS. Others with two lines of MILL REEF include his St Leger second Unsung Heroine and his multiple Australian Gr.1 winner Shoot Out. IRISH RIVER is the sire of the second dam of High Chaparral’s Gr.2 winner Joanna.

Montjeu’s third dam was by ZEDDAAN and he has four Gr.1 winners with two lines of Zeddaan. The stallions involved include KALAMOUN (sire of the second dam of Scorpion), his sons BIKALA and KENMARE (sire of the dam of Jukebox Jury) and his grandson KENDOR (broodmare sire of Corre Caminos and Recital).

The BLUSHING GROOM line should work well with Pour Moi. Two other sons of Montjeu have sired very useful winners from RAINBOW QUEST mares. Montjeu sired the Derby winner Authorized from a mare by SAUMAREZ, a son of RAINBOW QUEST, and also had stakes winners with mares by ARAZI, NASHWAN, RAHY and RAINBOW QUEST.

Montjeu sired the triple classic winner Camelot from a KINGMAMBO mare, the Derby winner Motivator and the St Leger winner Leading Light from GONE WEST mares and the Irish Derby winner Frozen Fire from a WOODMAN mare. Montjeu also has the potentially high-class Geoffrey Chaucer out of a MACHIAVELLIAN mare, plus three Group winners from ZAFONIC mares. High Chaparral has very smart sons out of daughters of MACHIAVELLIAN, WOODMAN and Gone West’s son GRAND SLAM.

Mares by PENNEKAMP, a son of BERING, are successful with the Sadler’s Wells line, producing the Gr.1 winner Jan Vermeer to Montjeu and two Gr.1 winners to Galileo. Another son of Montjeu has a Gr.3 winner out of a BERING mare.

LYPHARD sired the second dam of Authorized, while his sons PHARLY and BELLYPHA also sired the second dams of some of Montjeu’s Gr.1 winners. LINAMIX is the broodmare sire of the high-class Montmartre and Hurricane Run’s Gr.1 winning 2yo Ectot.

Montjeu and High Chaparral have Group winners out of DANEHILL mares and Montjeu’s brilliant son Camelot has a second dam by DANEHILL. Montjeu has also enjoyed classic success with a daughter of DANSILI, so Pour Moi is a candidate for daughters of DANEHILL DANCER, DANSILI, DANETIME, MOZART, EXCEED AND EXCEL, ROCK OF GIBRALTAR etc.

Montjeu’s Gr.2 winning 2yo Wading is from a mare by GREEN DESERT, who also sired the dam of High Chaparral’s Gr.1 2yo winner Wrote. Hurricane Run’s potentially smart son Bunker is another with a GREEN DESERT dam. CAPE CROSS is the broodmare sire of High Chaparral’s Gr.2 winner The Miniver Rose and Gr.1 placed 2yo Johann Strauss. Montjeu has Gr.1 winners in both hemispheres from GRAND LODGE mares.

ANABAA mares could be ideal for Pour Moi, as Motivator owes the brilliant Treve to a daughter of this champion sprinter and Hurricane Run also has a Group winner and a Listed winner out of ANABAA mares.

Montjeu has two stakes winners out of CAERLEON mares. High Chaparral has the outstanding So You Think from a granddaughter of NIJINSKY and the St Leger second Unsung Heroine from a grand-daughter of CAERLEON.

Nureyev appears in the pedigrees of High Chaparral’s Gr.1 performers Wigmore Hall, Beach Bunny and Lady Lupus. The Oaks third High Heeled is out of a grand-daughter of FAIRY KING, a full-brother to Sadler’s Wells. Authorized, another of Montjeu’s Derby winners, has two black-type fillies out of GALILEO mares, including the classic-placed Rehn’s Nest, which are inbred 3x3 to SADLER’S WELLS.

SHARPEN UP is a path to follow with Pour Moi, as he sired the second dams of Motivator and Hurricane Run. Hurricane Run and Motivator respectively have Group winners out of mares by DIESIS and by Diesis’ son ELMAAMUL. Montjeu’s top son St Nicholas Abbey is out of a mare by Kris’s son SURE BLADE.

AHONOORA line mares could be a good match for Pour Moi, as three other sons of Montjeu have stakes winners from them. The stallions involved include INCHINOR, INDIAN RIDGE and DR DEVIOUS.

High Chaparral’s Italian 2,000 Guineas winner Senlis is out of a WARNING mare and another WARNING mare produced the Gr.1 winner Miss Keller to Montjeu.

Sadler’s Wells had an excellent record with daughters of ALLEGED. A daughter of Alleged’s son LAW SOCIETY produced the top-class Scorpion to Montjeu.
