Ivan Denisovich is bred in the purple. His dam Hollywood Wildcat is one of the few Breeders’ Cup winners to produce a Breeders’ Cup winner, in the form of Ivan Denisovich’s ¾ brother War Chant.

Like any son of Danehill, Ivan Denisovich will suit mares by SADLER’S WELLS and his sons. Danehill is enjoying great success with Sadler’s Wells mares, with multiple Gr.1 winner Peeping Fawn and Gr.1-winning 2-y-o Horatio Nelson being excellent examples, along with the Royal Ascot Gr.2 winners Irresistible Jewel and Five Dynasties. Danehill’s son Dansili also has a Gr.1 winner out of a Sadler’s Wells mare. Danehill Dancer has already sired Group winners out of daughters of SADLER’S WELLS, SADDLERS’ HALL and OLD VIC, and Danetime sired the smart sprinter The Kiddykid from a Sadler’s Wells mare. A daughter of Sadler’s Wells’s son IN THE WINGS has produced the Gr.1 winner Luas Line.

Mares with NIJINSKY blood often brought out the best in Danehill, producing such as Banks Hill, Dansili, Cacique, Intercontinental, Indian Danehill, Punctilious and Catcher In The Rye. It was a mare by Nijinsky’s son SKY CLASSIC who produced Danehill Dancer’s classic winner Speciosa. War Chant sired Karen’s Caper from a CAERLEON mare. Danehill sired the French 2000 Guineas winners Clodovil and Aussie Rules from daughters of LINAMIX and ALZAO, while Group 1 winner Aquarelliste is out of a daughter of MANILA, so the LYPHARD line has great success.

Danehill’s Gr.1 winners included the Epsom Derby winner North Light, out of a RAINBOW QUEST mare, and Light Jig, out of a BLUSHING GROOM mare.

War Chant has a Gr.3 winner out of a SRI PEKAN mare, this winner being inbred 4x4 to ROBERTO, and his Gr.2 winner Brilliant is inbred 4x3 to ROBERTO.

MR. PROSPECTOR is the sire of the second dam of Ivan Denisovich and it is worth noting that inbreeding to the great American stallion has already produced Gr.1 winners of the quality of Society Selection, Storming Home, Strategic Maneuver, Halfbridled, Roman Ruler, Volponi and Elusive City to name but a few.

SHARPEN UP sired the dam of Danehill Dancer and his son DIESIS sired the dam of Dylan Thomas. Other sons of Danehill have sired smart winners from daughters of SELKIRK (Mount Nelson, Vital Equine and English Ballet), TREMPOLINO (Chelsea Rose), DIESIS (Strategic Prince), KRIS (Elopa and Utrecht), SANGLAMORE (Silver Touch), SHARPO (Soar), FLASH OF STEEL (Lady Dominatrix), SURE BLADE (Anna Pavlova) and SHARP VICTOR (Miss Sally), plus a Listed winner out of a daughter of BEVELED.

Danehill enjoyed a rewarding relationship with mares from the PETINGO line, siring the Gr.1 winners Westerner and Fine Motion. Mares which reinforce the RIBOT blood in Danehill’s pedigree are also well worth trying, as he had several Group winners inbred to Ribot, including Mozart, Regal Rose and Royal Dragon.

The HYPERION line is important to Danehill and his sons. The FORLI branch is responsible for stakes horses through GAY FANDANGO (Mr. Dinos), THATCHING (Great Dane and Restructure), TIROL and EFISIO. The speedy TUDOR MINSTREL branch is another option. Danehill Dancer has sired the high-class colts Monsieur Bond and Indesatchel from daughters of SONG and PETORIUS. VAGUELY NOBLE has sired the dams of three Group winners by Danehill, headed by triple Group 1 winner Oratorio.

Danehill sired several useful performers from MILL REEF mares and he had Gr.1 and Gr.3-winning two-year-olds out of SHIRLEY HEIGHTS mares.
