Champion 3yo in Europe, winning the Epsom Derby, Irish Derby & ‘King George’ in very fast times. One of the best-looking and best-bred sires at stud. Already sire of 9 Group 1 winners including Classic winners such as Soldier Of Fortune (Irish Derby-Gr.1), Sixties Icon (St Leger), Nightime (1000 Guineas) and is currently the leading sire in Europe.

Fee for 2009: Private

Galileo sired the Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Nightime from a daughter of INDIAN RIDGE and now he has come up with the top-class juvenile New Approach from a daughter of AHONOORA.

In siring the St. Leger winner Sixties Icon from a DIESIS mare and the Listed winner Galactic Star from a KRIS mare, Galileo has quickly shown his liking for the SHARPEN UP line.

As Galileo was a very sound horse, he is an attractive medium for inbreeding to the great MR. PROSPECTOR. He already has the Gr.1 winning colt Red Rocks out of a daughter of MACHIAVELLIAN. WOODMAN sired the second dam of one of Galileo’s Listed winners. Alternatively, mares from the ALYDAR and EXCLUSIVE NATIVE branches of the RAISE A NATIVE male line are well worth trying. Galileo already has a Gr.2-winning son out of an ALYSHEBA mare. MAJESTIC LIGHT, another Raise A Native line stallion, sired the second dam of Teofilo.

Mares by DARSHAAN have obvious appeal as mates for Galileo, now that Sadler’s Wells has sired SEVEN Gr.1 winners from Darshaan mares.

Never Bend’s grandson IRISH RIVER is the broodmare sire of four of Sadler’s Wells’ Gr.1 winners, and there are three Group winners out of daughters of RIVERMAN, including an Arc winner. As NORTHERN DANCER will be in the third generation of Galileo’s foals, there is plenty of scope for him to cover mares from the Northern Dancer male line. His first stakes winner, Innocent Air, is out of a mare by THE MINSTREL. His champion son Teofilo is out of a DANEHILL mare and the Gr.1 winner Allegretto is out of a CAERLEON mare.

Galileo could also be a suitable mate for mares whose pedigrees include NUREYEV, a three-parts-brother to Sadler’s Wells. Nureyev and Sadler’s Wells appear together in the pedigrees of several Gr.1 winners, including El Condor Pasa, Whipper, Divine Proportions, Virginia Waters and Carry On Katie. Sadler’s Wells’ brother FAIRY KING sired the second dam of his Gr.1 winner Red Rocks.

Mares by STORM CAT and his sons also come into the picture now that Galileo has sired the Gr.3 winner Galatee from a MOUNTAIN CAT mare, while BLUEBIRD, another representative of the STORM BIRD male line, sired the second dam of the classic-winning Nightime.

Sadler’s Wells’s outstanding record with HABITAT mares makes Galileo an automatic choice for them and for other mares from the Turn-To line. LORD GAYLE sired the second dam of Galileo’s Irish Derby winner Soldier of Fortune.

RAINBOW QUEST is the broodmare sire of Galileo’s St. Leger runner-up Mahler. He also has a Listed winner out of a NASHWAN mare so the BLUSHING GROOM line looks a good choice. Alleged’s son LAW SOCIETY is another very attractive option. Not only did he sire the second dam of Sixties Icon but he is also the broodmare sire of Montjeu’s Grand Prix de Paris and St. Leger winner Scorpion. Law Society has sired a Gr.1 winner from Galileo’s family.

The Bold Ruler branch of the Nasrullah line has supplied several Group winners by Sadler’s Wells, with BOLD RULER, SECRETARIAT, GENERAL ASSEMBLY, SUCCESSOR, FOOLISH PLEASURE and AUCTION RING among the broodmare sires.
The Grey Sovereign branch of the Nasrullah line has also helped produce very smart winners, with mares by KENMARE and RUSTICARO producing Gr.1 winners to Sadler’s Wells.
