Footstepsinthesand

Bay 2002 16.1 hh (1.65 m)
Giant's Causeway - Glatisant
Distance won over: 6f. to 8f.

Footstepsinthesand was an unbeaten English 2000 Guineas winner at 3 and an unbeaten winner of the Killavullan Stakes Gr.3 as a juvenile. He is out of the unbeaten group winning two-year-old filly Glatisant by Rainbow Quest. On the track he displayed the same infectious will to win as his illustrious sire Giant’s Causeway, the best young sire in the world. ‘Footsteps’ is a half-brother to the dam of Ribblesdale S. Gr.2 winner Thakafaat. His first crop are yearlings of 2008.

Fee for 2008: € 20,000

As Northern Dancer will be no nearer than the fifth generation of Footstepsinthesand’s foals, there are countless options from this line. His sire
Giant’s Causeway
has a Gr.1 winner out of a DIXIELAND BAND mare and another Gr.1 winner, the top American miler Aragorn, whose second dam is by NORTHERN DANCER. It is interesting that Maids Causeway is out of a mare closely inbred to NUREYEV.

Giant’s Causeway owes his position as one of the highest-priced stallions in the largely to his widescale success with mares from the Mr. Prospector male line. He has two GSW’s out of MR. PROSPECTOR mares, including the top miler Aragorn. He also has Gr.1 winners out of daughters of KINGMAMBO, MISWAKI and MACHIAVELLIAN, Gr.2 winners out of mares by FAPPIANO, KINGMAMBO and FORTY NINER, and Gr.3 winners out of daughters of CRAFTY PROSPECTOR and GONE WEST.

The SHARPEN UP branch of the Native Dancer male line also has to be taken seriously, as
Giant’s Causeway
has already sired the Gr.2-placed Natalie Jane from a daughter of SELKIRK. His Gr.2 winner Red Giant has a SHARPEN UP mare as his second dam. Footstepsinthesand’s second dam, Dancing Rocks, produced a Group filly to KRIS and she is also the second dam of the champion juvenile filly Superstar Leo, by SHARPO’s son COLLEGE CHAPEL.

The Damascus horse PRIVATE ACCOUNT sired the second dam of two of Giant’s Causeway’s smart performers, which suggests that he is going to continue the Storm Cat line’s success with descendants of

The Classic placed Mona Lisa is by Giant’s Causeway out of a

mare. Mares by DARSHAAN - a stallion who did extremely well with daughters of Blushing Groom - should also suit Footstepsinthesand. Dancing Rocks, the second dam of Footstepsinthesand, produced the Yorkshire Oaks third Rockerlong to a son of

.

Storm Cat sired Gr.1 winners from daughters of HALO, KRIS S. and LEAR FAN, so mares from the HAIL TO REASON/ROBERTO line also have considerable appeal for Footstepsinthesand.

Giant’s Causeway is emulating Storm Cat’s success with SEATTLE SLEW blood, as SEATTLE SLEW and his sons SEATTLE SONG and SLEWPY appear among the sires of the second dams of
Giant’s Causeway
’s good winners.
