The leading sire of stakes winners in Europe in 2008 with 6 European Group winners already including Mastercraftsman (2yo) Gr.1, Again (2yo) Gr.1, Anna Pavlova Gr.2, Carribean Sunset Gr.3, Ice Queen Gr.3, etc. Only Galileo has as many! Group 1 winners include Choisir, Mastercraftsman, Again, Speciosa, Miss Beatrix, Where Or When, Alexander Tango etc.

Fee for 2009: Private

The most important point to remember about Danehill Dancer’s early crops is that the first four were conceived at fees of IR4,000 gns or under and that his fifth was sired at IR£9,000. He is now one of the best sires at stud in Europe.

Two of Danehill Dancer’s first crop stakes winners were inbred to NORTHERN DANCER, with the second line coming through BE MY GUEST. This ties in with the record of Danehill Dancer’s sire, Danehill, who sired the great Rock of Gibraltar from a BE MY GUEST mare and Danetime from a grand-daughter of BE MY GUEST. Danehill Dancer also has a Listed winner out of a mare by Be My Guest’s son MOST WELCOME.

Danehill Dancer is also proving an ideal mate for mares from the SADLER’S WELLS line eg. Danehill Music, Barbajuan and Venturi. He also merits a chance with mares by FAIRY KING. Daughters of POLAR FALCON and PIVOTAL could suit, as Danehill did well with NUREVEY. Danehill Dancer sired his first classic winner, Speciosa, from a mare by Nijinsky’s son SKY CLASSIC, and other recent Group winners include Decado, out of a mare by GREEN DANCER, and Good Mood, out of a daughter of CAERLEON. The 2007 Gr.2 winner Lizard Island has a NIJINSKY mare as his second dam.

The STORM BIRD branch is shaping up well, as Danehill Dancer has a smart performer out of a daughter of BLUEBIRD and a Gr.1 winner, Miss Beatrix, out of a mare by STORM CAT’s son CATRAIL.

Danehill Dancer’s grandsires Sharpen Up and Danzig both did well with Ribot blood, so mares by ALLEGED and LAW SOCIETY are possibilities. Danehill has two Gr.2 winners out of mares by Alleged, who also sired the second dam of the 1,000 Guineas winner Speciosa. Danehill Dancer’s Gr.2 winner Silent Times is inbred 4x4 to Ribot’s son HIS MAJESTY.

Inbreeding to SHARPEN UP is becoming a feature of some of Danehill Dancer’s better winners. The Gr.1-placed English Ballet (out of a SELKIRK mare) is inbred 3x3, as is the Listed winner Bright Edge. The Group-winning Lady Dominatrix and Anna Pavlova are inbred 3x4.

Danehill Dancer could also emulate his sire’s success with mares by sons of MR. PROSPECTOR, and his Gr.1-winning daughter Alexander Tango is out of a WOODMAN mare. GONE WEST’s son ZAFONIC sired the dam of the Gr.3 winner Fast Company. MACHIAVELLIAN mares would be interesting in view of the success his son Medicean has had with Danehill mares, and he has an Australian Gr.2 winner out of a KINGMAMBO mare.

Danehill sired a Gr.1 winner from a ROBERTO mare, plus very smart performers from mares by three sons of ROBERTO, including one from a LEAR FAN mare. Danehill Dancer has now sired the Group-winning Drumfire from a LEAR FAN mare.
Fast Nasrullah blood would also be a good match. His first-crop winners include the top miler Where Or When, from the BOLD RULER line, and the Gr.2 winner Silent Times has a SEATTLE SLEW mare as his second dam. Blushing Groom’s son ARAZI is the broodmare sire of his smart son Jeremy.

THATCHING mares have done very well with Danehill Dancer’s Group-placed winner Lady Lindsay and his Listed winner Dance Night are out of Thatching mares. THATCHING’S son TIROL sired the dam of the Group-placed Silver Wraith and the second dam of Group winner English Ballet. Another fast branch of the Hyperion male line - the SING SING branch - has supplied Danehill Dancer with two of his best winners - the very smart sprinter Monsieur Bond (out of a SONG mare) and the high-class miler Indesatchel (out of a PETORIUS mare). Mares by CADEAUX GENEREUX and EFISIO are other attractive options.

Danehill Dancer has sired a Gr.3 winner, Sexy Lady, from a mare by Irish River’s son EXIT TO NOWHERE, while his Gr.1 winner Alexander Tango and Gr.3 winner Fast Company respectively have mares by RIVERMAN and MILL REEF as their second dam.
