Ad Valorem’s sire, the great Danzig , sired nine Graded winners, including three Gr.1 winners, from daughters of MR. PROSPECTOR. He also enjoyed widespread success with mares from other branches of the RAISE A NATIVE male line, notably siring Graded winners from mares by EXCLUSIVE NATIVE (2), AFFIRMED, ALYDAR (4), ALYSHEBA, TURKOMAN and EASY GOER (2). Ad Valorem ought to do well with mares by Mr. Prospector’s sons.

Another member of the NATIVE DANCER male line which supplied Danzig with some good winners was SHARPEN UP.
Danzig also enjoyed considerable success with descendants of Turn-To. He sired the Gr.1 winners Furiously and Yashmak from ROBERTO mares, as well as War Chant from a KRIS S. mare. Ad Valorem could be suited by daughters of DYNAFORMER, LEAR FAN, SILVER HAWK, RED RANSOM and ROBELLINO.

Danzig sired the Gr.1 Dewhurst Stakes winner Mujahid from a STORM CAT mare. Mating Ad Valorem to mares by Storm Cat creates 3x4 to Northern Dancer. Inbreeding to Northern Dancer also occurred through LYPHARD, sire of the second dam of the Gr.1 winner Agnes World, and NIJINSKY. This suggests mares by ALZAO, ROYAL ACADEMY and CAERLEON. There is no reason why mares by sons of SADLER’S WELLS should not suit Ad Valorem. The same applies to mares by NUREYEV’s sons.

RIBOT line mares also contributed considerably to Danzig ’s success, including mares by HIS MAJESTY (broodmare sire of the great Danehill), HOIST THE FLAG, ALLEGED and TOM ROLFE. The top miler Librettist and the 2007 Gr.3 winner Prussian are the latest examples of Danzig ’s success with ALLEGED mares.

BLUSHING GROOM sired the second dams of two of Danzig’s Group winners, including Brahms, and also sired the dam of the Gr.2 winner Smolensk . Antonius Pius’s dam is by Blushing Groom’s grandson PURSUIT OF LOVE.

NEVER BEND blood also suited Danzig, and Never Bend sired the second dam of Green Desert and Bertolini. MILL REEF sired the second dam of Antonius Pius, whereas RIVERMAN sired the second dam of Anabaa.

The BOLD RULER line also figures prominently, with Danzig siring top winners from daughters of SECRETARIAT, WHAT A PLEASURE and SEATTLE SLEW. Daughters of WARNING would be an interesting match, creating 4x4 to In Reality and 5x5 to Hail To Reason.
