From the family of Chief’s Crown, a leading sire of Gr.1 winners like Grand Lodge, Chief Bearheart, Erhaab, Be My Chief and Chief Honcho.

Won the St. James’s Palace Stakes-Gr.1, other winners include the leading sires Rock of Gibraltar, Giant’s Causeway, Grand Lodge and Kingmambo.

At 2 years he was very precocious, easily winning his maiden on 20th April before going on to land the Mill Reef Stakes-Gr.2.

This son of Pivotal (Nureyev sire line) looks a fantastic cross with Danzig line broodmares.  He is from the family of CHIEF’S CROWN (Danzig) which makes sons and grandsons of Chief’s Crown particularly desirable.  These include GRAND LODGE, BEAUTIFUL CROWN, GRANDERA, AZZAAM and CHIEF BEARHEART.

DANZIG and DANEHILL line mares include ANABAA, BIANCONI, GOLDEN SNAKE, FOXHOUND, MISTER C, BELONG TO ME, DANEHILL DANCER, FLYING SPUR, DANZERO, REDOUTE’S CHOICE, COMMANDS, LION HUNTER, CATBIRD etc etc.  A Danehill mare has already produced Group 1 Irish One Thousand Guineas winner Saoire by Pivotal.

Nureyev, great grandsire of Excellent Art, is a three quarter brother to SADLER’S WELLS and FAIRY KING.  This is also the family of RIDAN, LORENZACCIO, TATE GALLERY, THATCH, THATCHING and REFORM.  Broodmare sires from this same line include ENCOSTA DE LAGO, SCENIC, GALILEO, PUISSANCE, SEQUALO, TIROL, SHALFORD, GEIGER COUNTER, YEATS, PERUGINO, ARCHWAY, RUSTIC AMBER and OPEN DAY.

Out of a Seeking the Gold mare, matings with mares by SECRET SAVINGS and his son DASH FOR CASH will create sex balanced inbreeding to this influence. Excellent Art’s sire Pivotal has produced triple Group One winner Somnus out of a NIGHT SHIFT mare.

RAHY, sire of FANTASTIC LIGHT and NOVERRE, is the damsire of Megahertz, a dual Group One winner by Pivotal.

The prominent presence of Secretariat in Excellent Art’s pedigree invites mares carrying his half brother Sir Gaylord.  The most accessible source of Sir Gaylord in Australasia is the SIR TRISTRAM line. GROSVENOR, ZABEEL, OCTAGONAL, DR. GRACE, WESTMINSTER, DALMACIA, KAAPSTAD and MARAUDING mares are appealing.
