Scat Daddy follows Johannesburg, Hennessy, Storm Cat and Storm Bird as the fifth consecutive generation of his male line to have won at Gr.1 level at two. Inheriting his male line’s precocity, Scat Daddy first revealed his considerable talent when winning in fast time on his debut in early June and he went on to land the Gr.2 Sanford S. over 6 f. and the Gr.1 Champagne S. over a mile. Scat Daddy was more than just a top-class juvenile, though, as he showed by taking the Gr.2 Fountain of Youth S. and Gr.1 Florida Derby over a mile and an eighth at three.

His dam Love Style is by Mr. Prospector out of a Gr.1-winning Nijinsky mare so Scat Daddy is inbred 4 x 2 to Mr. Prospector and 5 x 4 to the similarly exceptional Northern Dancer.

He is likely to suit mares by Mr. Prospector’s grandsons, such as QUIET AMERICAN, UNBRIDLED, DISTORTED HUMOR, END SWEEP, ELUSIVE QUALITY, GRAND SLAM, MR. GREELEY, STREET CRY and SMOKE GLACKEN as Johannesburg, Hennessy and Storm Cat all enjoyed much success with this line. Mares from the ALYDAR line are also serious contenders, in view of their success with Storm Cat and Hennessy.

More NORTHERN DANCER blood is likely to suit Scat Daddy. Scat Daddy should suit daughters and grand-daughters of such as DANZIG, EL GRAN SENOR, LYPHARD, NUREYEV, SADLER’S WELLS and VICE REGENT. Johannesburg has sired two good performers from mares by Danzig’s son BOUNDARY and another from a mare by DANEHILL. Scat Daddy is likely to suit mares by other sons of Danzig, such as BELONG TO ME and LANGFUHR. Johannesburg has a stakes winner inbred 3 x 3 to STORM CAT.

Scat Daddy’s pedigree is free of HAIL TO REASON and DEVIL’S BAG sired the dam of one of Johannesburg’s Graded winners and the second dam of another. Mares by Roberto’s sons, such as DYNAFORMER, KRIS S., RED RANSOM and SILVER HAWK, also merit consideration.
