Like outstanding sires El Prado, Montjeu, Galileo, In The Wings, Barathea and Fort Wood he is a son of the remarkable stallion Sadler's Wells. Timeform rated Powerscourt 5lb superior to El Prado. It is interesting that El Prado, Kentucky's most established son of Sadler's Wells, has already sired two Graded winners on synthetic surfaces, with Asi Siempre taking the Gr.1 Spinster Stakes and Dreaming of Liz the Gr.3 Arlington-Washington Lassie Stakes. This supports the theory that the very sound Sadler's Wells line is going to make an increasing impact as more and more tracks switch from traditional dirt. He has his first yearlings in 2008.

SADLER'S WELLS has sired his best performers from a wide variety of bloodlines, as has his champion son El PRADO. Like El Prado, Powerscourt has a pedigree free of some of the most widespread American lines.

El Prado's son Chindi is out of a mare by ALYDAR, who also appears as the sire of the broodmare sires of Borrego and Timo, while the RAISE A NATIVE line also appears in leading winners by El Prado through MAJESTIC LIGHT and MR. PROSPECTOR's son Allen's Prospect and grandson Fortunate Prospect.

Sadler's Wells sired the classic winners Galileo and Refuse To Bend from daughters of MISWAKI and GULCH, and another classic winner, Entrepreneur, from an EXCLUSIVE NATIVE mare.

It is worth noting that several of El Prado's GSWs, including Kitten's Joy, Fort Prado, Lord Admiral, Young Turk, Shaconage and Spanish Sun all have a second line of NORTHERN DANCER, the last two through his great son NIJINSKY.

The broodmare sires of El Prado's sons Kitten's Joy and Senor Swinger are both by ROBERTO, and the broodmare sires of Air Rocket and Spanish Sun are by BLUSHING GROOM, while the broodmare sires of Medaglia d'Oro and Navajo Pearl are by DAMASCUS.

Powerscourt is a half-brother to the fast filly Kind, by DANEHILL. Their dam Rainbow Lake is one of nearly 60 Group winners sired by the Arc winner Rainbow Quest who is by BLUSHING GROOM. Gr.1 winners inbred to BLUSHING GROOM include Footstepsinthesand and Passage of Time.
