Japanese Stakes-Winner for Dehere

30th November 2008

Accomplished shuttle sire Dehere featured in Japan at the weekend with a new stakes-winner when Western Dancer (4m Dehere x Western Rose, by Opera House) was successful in the Keihan Hai Jpn Gr 3 at Kyoto.

Trained by Hiroki Sakiyama for owner breeder Ken Nishikawa, Western Dancer won the 1200 metre sprint by three-quarters of a length in taking her record to six wins from 17 starts.

Western Dancer is from unraced Western Rose, a daughter of American Group One winner Musical Lark, winner of the Belmont Matron Stakes.

Dehere’s reputation as a broodmare sire gained further credence when he featured in South Africa as sire of the dam of Group Two Unitrans Dingaans Stakes winner Oracy (3c Zabeel x Lady Dehere, by Dehere).

A three year-old by Zabeel from the Group Two winner Lady Dehere, Oracy is unbeaten in winning each of his two starts.
