Stakes Horse for Fastnet Rock

22nd November 2008

Fastnet Rock featured with his first stakes horse in New Zealand at the weekend when Rockadubai (2f Fastnet Rock x Dubai Express, by Zabeel) finished a good third in the Listed Murdoch Newell Stakes at Pukekohe.

The John Sargent trained filly was fourth on debut in a Listed race on October 25 and improved from that to be beaten half a length into third place behind more experienced fillies The Lady and Katie Lee.

Rockadubai is the second foal of the Zabeel mare Dubai Express, who is a half-sister to three juvenile stakes-winners in Lady Dehere, Oratorio and Discorsi, so there is plenty on the pedigree front to suggest she should be out and running at two.

In an unusual twist, the winner of the race The Lady is by Stravinsky from Lady Dehere, who a half-sister to the dam of Rockadubai.

Fastnet Rock already has three winners on the board in Wanted, Zikmann and San Cristobel and has 29 yearlings catalogued for Magic Millions Sessions One to Five.
