Zarock Wins Again

Promising filly Zarock (3f Rock of Gibraltar x Zapeace, by Zabeel) made it two wins from three starts when she proved too strong at Randwick on Saturday when accounting for the hot favourite Pinwheel.

The Gary Portelli trained three year-old filly jumped well and controlled the race from the outset, leading all the way as she did last start to win the 1200 metre Ratings 73 event by a length.

“I’m over the moon with how she’s going,” Portelli said.

“We were just hoping she’d be able to win a few races but she’s stepped up and won two in a row, today in Saturday company.

“She’s improved so much, she was more relaxed and very fit going into the race and the weight probably helped her.

“She’ll be put away with the autumn in mind.”

Retained to race by her breeder, Zarock is by former champion racehorse Rock of Gibraltar from the Group Three winning mare Zapeace and appears a filly of considerable potential.
