Four Straight for Queen of the Catsle

30th October 2008

In-form mare Queen of the Catsle (4m Tale of the Cat x Kiawah Queen, by Lord at War) made it four successive wins when she powered home to capture the Dance in the Mood Stakes at Hollywood on Wednesday.

The Howard Zucker trained mare is in rare form at present and always looked a good thing to win this six and a half furlong assignment on the turf after her impressive last start win in the Group Three Senator Ken Maddy Handicap on October 4.

Always handy to the pace, Queen of the Catsle rallied four wide into the straight and quickly set out after the leader Kalookan Dancer, going straight on by to score by half a length in taking her overall record to six wins and five seconds from 13 starts with prizemoney in excess of $300,000.

A home bred for C T Grether Inc, Queen of the Catsle is from the unraced Lord at War mare Kiawah Queen, whose pedigree is largely undistinguished with Queen of the Catsle being the first stakes-winner in her immediate family going back through the first three dams.

Queen of the Catsle is one of 10 North American stakes-winners this year for outstanding sire Tale of the Cat who is the seventh leading sire by North American earnings.
