Danehill Dancer is sale topper - Again
23rd October 2008
Danehill Dancer provided yet another sale topper in France this week when responsible for the highest price at Arqana’s October Yearling Sale in Deauville.
The unstoppable Coolmore sire topped this year’s Goffs Million Sale with a 1,000,000 euros filly and twice broke the record for Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale last week with a filly and colt respectively making 420,000gns and 400,000gns.
At Deauville, it was the turn of a colt out of the Mr Prospector mare Obscura, bred by the Niarchos family and offered from their Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard, to steal the show.
Breeze-up king Willie Browne was smitten by the colt but he ended up as underbidder to agent Paul Nataf as the price reached 315,000 euros.
"I saw 280 horses at stud farms before the sale and he was my pick. I’ve seen another 100 horses at the sale and he was still my pick," Nataf told European Bloodstock News. "I was happy to have been able to buy him for a new client from Libya and he will be trained in France by Jean-Marie Béguigné."
