Blue Blood Mare Captures Belle of Turf

Regally bred mare Prima Nova (4m Danehill Dancer x Bonanova, by Star Way) became the latest stakes-winner for outstanding sire Danehill Dancer when she chimed in with a well –timed run to snare a valuable Black Type win in the Listed Belle of the Turf Stakes over 1600 metres at Gosford on Sunday.Beaten just over two lengths when eighth last start in a Group Two mares event at Flemington on October 4, Prima Nova appreciated the drop in grade to score a stylish win over proven stakes performer Alverta.
Bred and offered for sale by Tyreel Stud, Prima Nova was bought by her trainer Anthony Cummings for $400,000 at the 2006 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale and has won four races from 16 starts and some $172,167 in prizemoney for her owner Michael Pitt.
Prima Nova is the fourth foal and second stakes-winner for former outstanding racemare Bonanova, a winner of eight races and $1million in prizemoney highlighted by a Group One triumph in the VRC Emirates Stakes, with two other of her feature wins in the Group Two VRC Hardy Brothers Classic and Group Three Tatts Qld Winter Stakes now classified Group One.
A full sister to Group One winners Telesto and Fraternity, Bonanova is also the dam of New Zealand stakes-winner Bonaichi (by Fusaichi Pegasus) and when offered at the 2008 Inglis Broodmare Sale she made $700,000 to the bid of Neil Jenkinson .
Prima Nova is the fifth Australian stakes-winner for Danehill Dancer this season joining Lorne Dancer, Dual Hemisphere, Light Fantastic and Bhutane Dane.
