Rockadubai Wins Trial by Seven
15th October 2008
New Zealand was the scene for the latest impressive barrier trial winner for Fastnet Rock with the John Sargent trained filly Rockadubai (2f Fastnet Rock x Dubai Express, by Zabeel) bolting in by seven lengths at Te Teko on Tuesday.
A home bred for Tim Bodle of Whakanui Stud, Rockadubai dominated the 800 metre trial in racing right away to win in the slick time of 47.17 seconds.
“She looks more like a three year-old and we are very happy with her,” said John Sargent.
“She doesn’t stand out so much at trackwork, but at the trials it’s a different thing altogether, she has a lovely long stride and is muscle on muscle.”
Recognized as potentially one of the best juveniles produced in New Zealand this season, Rockadubai is likely to go straight into a stakes race and may possibly come to Australia later in the season if all goes according to plan.
Rockadubai is the second foal of the Zabeel mare Dubai Express, who is a half-sister to three juvenile stakes-winners in Lady Dehere, Oratorio and Discorsi, so there is plenty on the pedigree front to back up the talent she is showing on the track.
Fastnet Rock's first official runner to date is the Tim Martin trained colt Zikmann, who finished a good fourth in the Listed AJC Breeders Plate and is entered for the open juvenile event at Randwick this Saturday.
