Danehill Dancer filly win £800,000 race
6th October 2008
Danehill Dancer’s unstoppable run of juvenile success continued at Newmarket on Saturday when the Michael Jarvis-trained Tiger Eye (2f Danehill Dancer-Pink Stone, by Bigstone) had a bumper payout when winning the £800,000 Tattersalls Timeform Fillies’ 800 .
The filly, who is owned by a Highclere Thoroughbred Racing Partnership made up of friends of bookmaker Victor Chandler, made all the running under jockey Philip Robinson to score by two and three-quarter lengths.
"It was a terrific thrill today and Michael had told us she had been working very well," said Highclere Thoroughbred Racing’s Harry Herbert.
"We fell in love with this filly from the moment we saw her at the sales. Being by Danehill Dancer who had such a good season last year, we expected her to go for a fortune but we managed to get her relatively cheaply (82,000gns).When you look at the big picture, she wasn't expensive.
"I suspect that will probably it for the season now. She doesn't have to do much more really. We hope that she can develop into a Guineas contender next year. She looks to have the size and scope to do so."
Tiger Eye, who was bred by J M Beever, made 42,000gns as a foal at Tattersalls before being resold to agent John Warren at the October Yearling Sale last year for 82,000gns.
