280,000 euros for first European Encosta De Lago
30th September 2008
The first yearling to be offered in Europe by Australian sire sensation Encosta De Lago made 280,000 euros on the opening day of the Goffs Million Sale on Monday.
Demi O’Byrne eventually saw off trainer Dermot Weld for the colt, out of US stakes winner Mary McGlinchy (by Plesant Colony) offered from Ashtown House Stud.
"He was a very good example of his sire, who has done so well in Australia, where he is a champion," said O’Byrne.
