Princess takes Ascot stakes for Choisir

28th September 2008

The Jeremy Noseda-trained Meydan Princess (3f Choisir-Miss Assertive, by Zafonic) looks a filly on the upgrade after running away with the Listed October Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

It was her first attempt in black-type company and she looks destined to make her mark in a higher grade after this victory.

The Racing Post’s Analysis noted: "MEYDAN PRINCESS, although slightly missing the break, still got away quicker than is usually the case and travelled better than anything throughout. She looked the winner a fair way out and, although her rider was probably reluctant to let her go too soon, she found plenty when switched towards the favoured far side of the track..... She's always looked a filly with plenty of talent and this was a career best."

Meydan Princess was bred by John Costello and bought by agent Anthony Stroud for 50,000 euros at the 2006 Goffs Million Sale.

She completed a red-letter day for Choisir, who also sired the Gai Waterhouse-trained Dreamscape (3c Choisir-Faith In Dreams, by Ferdinand), winner of the G2 AJC Stan Fox Stakes at Randwick in Australia on Saturday.
