Dreamscape Aims Towards Caulfield Guineas

27th September 2008

Exciting prospect Dreamscape (3c Choisir x Faith in Dreams, by Ferdinand) overcame a tardy start to score a dominant win in the Group Two AJC Stan Fox Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.

The athletic bay had the race in his keeping a long way from home, accelerating powerfully in the straight to run away from Whitefriars and win by nearly two lengths with Judge Me Not in third place.

“I love training this horse he is such a gentleman,” said his trainer Gai Waterhouse.

“He is such an uncomplicated horse. Under the set weights today he took control and exploded away in the straight. He’ll go to Melbourne on Monday and start preparing for the Guineas.”

A homebred for Gooree Stud, Dreamscape has had just three starts for two wins and a third and prizemoney of $206,100.

Dreamscape is the fourth winner and first stakes-winner for the Ferdinand mare Faith in Dreams, whose pedigree is one of the best in the world as she claims legendary producer Thong as her grand-dam.

A remarkable mare, Thong is the dam of Group One winners Thatch and King Pellinore, her many superior descendants including champions sires Sadler’s Wells and Nureyev.

Dreamscape provided the first leg of a winning stakes double for Choisir, who also tasted success with Sara’s Choice in the Listed AJC Reginald Allen Handicap.

A son of outstanding sire Danehill Dancer, former champion sprinter Choisir was the leading second crop Australian sire last season by individual winners and stands at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $33,000.
