Peintre Celebre colt to be aimed at Hong Kong Derby

22nd September 2008

Royal Ascot winner Collection (3c Peintre Celebre-Lasting Chance, by American Chance) has been sold privately to join trainer John Moore as a Hong Kong Derby prospect in a deal brokered by Alastair Donald of the Kern Lillingston Association.

The Peintre Celebre colt was trained by William Haggas to win three races for Highclere Thoroughbred Racing including the Listed Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot.

"Collection provided his owners with a tremendous thrill during his career to date, with his win at this year’s Royal Ascot meeting being an obvious highlight," said Highclere Thoroughbred Racing’s managing director Harry Herbert.

"Everyone that has been involved with him will be sorry to see him leave the Highclere string, however we will look forward to following his promising future in Hong Kong".

Alastair Donald added: "Collection is a beautiful looking animal who ticks all the boxes in respect of him being able to act on the racing conditions in Hong Kong. If he can reproduce his Royal Ascot form, we feel he has a serious live chance in the Hong Kong Derby in March next year."

Collection was bred by Peter Savill and bought for 130,000 euros as a yearling at the 2006 Arqana August Sale by John Warren.
