Bhutane Dane Adds to Dancer Tally

20th September 2008

Danehill Dancer has been riding the crest of a global wave of late and added a new stakes-winner to the tally when exciting prospect Bhutane Dane (3g Danehill Dancer x Joleur, by Bite the Bullet) resumed from a spell with a dominant win in the Listed STC Heritage Stakes over 1200 metres at Rosehill on Saturday.

A stylish chestnut gelding prepared by Gai Waterhouse, Bhutane Dane overcame a wide draw to cross the field and sit just off the pace, accelerating swiftly in the straight to beat Snow Alert by the best part of two lengths with smart filly Silent But Deadly (3f Choisir x Silent Smytzer, by Rory's Jester) ) flashing home for third.

“He is a really talented three-year-old, he’s such a lovely horse and he’ll go right on with it this preparation,” said Waterhouse.

“He was such a naughty boy I asked the owners if I could geld him and like Weekend Hussler he’s gone ahead in leaps and bounds since.”

Bhutane Dane has the tidy record of two wins and a second from four starts with prizemoney of $161,300 and the best is still to come.

Bhutane Dane was secured by Gai Waterhouse for $360,000 at the 2007 Magic Millions Yearling Sale from the draft of Edinburgh Park Stud.

He is a half-brother to stakes-winner Gaze On being from the Bite the Bullet mare Joleur, a full sister to Group Three winner Mica’s Pride and Group Three placed Money Begets Money.

Joleur has a yearling filly by Fastnet Rock and is due to foal to Dehere.

Bhutane Dane made it a Rosehill double for Danehill Dancer, who was represented earlier in the day by another smart Gai Waterhouse trained commodity in Lorne Dancer (4g Danehill Dancer x Fabled, by Seattle Dancer).

A winner at Rosehill last Saturday, Lorne Dancer backed up to do it again taking the Ratings 86 event over 2000 metres by two and a half lengths.

A $70,000 purchase from the Yarraman Park draft at the 2006 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Lorne Dancer has now won five races and placed four times from 11 starts earning $164,620.

For good measure Danehill Dancer also added a double at Cheltenham in Adelaide with wins for Ballerina Girl (3f Danehill DAncer x Vain Deb, by Vain) and Dancer’s Tale (8g Danehill Dancer x Talezal, by At Talaq).
