Epsom Plans for Unbeaten Kiloton

13th September 2008

Lightly raced Kiloton (5h Spinning World x Mystifying, by Last Tycoon) staked his claim for a start in the Group One AJC Epsom Handicap with another polished display to win the Ratings 90 event over 1350 metres at Rosehill on Saturday by a length and a half eased down.

Now with the Tim Martin stable after stints with Gai Waterhouse and Bart Cummings, Kiloton looks a horse of considerable potential with four wins from as many starts and prizemoney of $114,550.

“The Bill Ritchie is his next assignment and then hopefully to the Epsom,” Martin’s wife Melanie said.

“Tim doesn’t give praise light heartedly but since day one he’s raved about this horse.”

A $200,000 purchase from the Coolmore draft at the 2005 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Kiloton was bred by Mrs Deb Camilleri and is the second foal of the metropolitan winning Last Tycoon mare Mystifying.

A daughter of stakes-winning mare Jewel in the Crown from the prolific Denise’s Joy family, Mystifying was sold at the Inglis Broodmare Sale earlier in the year for $360,000 in foal to Encosta de Lago.

The resulting foal will be a full sibling to the Encosta de Lago colt from Mystifying that made $325,000 to the bid of Anthony Cummings at the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
