Montjeu colt Honolulu storms to G2 Cup success
12th September 2008
The Aidan O’Brien-trained Honolulu (4c Montjeu-Cerulean Sky, by Darshaan) proved himself a top-class stayer when running away with the G2 Doncaster Cup by four lengths on Friday afternoon.
The Kilfrush Stud-bred four-year-old, who was enjoying his first Group race success, was cut from 25/1 to 20/1 for the Melbourne Cup following the success under jockey Johnny Murtagh.
"He's a lovely horse and won very well. He's been working well and everyone has been very happy with him," said Murtagh. "Aidan was delighted with him and he did it well. He’s improved a lot."
