10th September 2008

Yearlings by Giant’s Causeway were in the spotlight at the Keeneland September Yearling sale on Tuesday with three outstanding youngsters selling for upwards of $1million led by a glorious filly from super producer Alidiva.

An eye-catching chestnut (pictured) offered as Lot 360, she made $1.25 million for Taylor Made Sales to be the highest priced filly of the session.

Secured by Troy Steve Bloodstock Ltd, the filly has some very famous siblings being a half-sister to Group One winners Taipan, Sleepytime and Ali Royal, also a full sister to US Group Two winner Oonagh Maccool.

Padua Stables bid $1.2million to secure a Giant’s Causeway colt from Debit Account from the draft of Four Star Sales.

Bred on the highly successful Storm Cat/ Mr Prospector cross, the colt is a half-brother to stakes-placed Lomaki from the family of US Group One winner America Alive.

Also selling for seven figures was a Giant’s Causeway colt from Vertigineux that made $1,150,000 for Winter Quarter Farm as agent for Maverick Productions when knocked down to Live Oak Plantation.

The colt is a half-brother to triple Group One winner Balance and this year’s sensation Zenyatta, an unbeaten multiple Group One winner with more still to come.
