Giant’s Causeway Colt Stars at Keeneland Day One

Outstanding sire Giant’s Causeway provided the top priced colt during the opening session of the 2008 Keeneland September Yearling Sale when his youngster from dual Group One winner Voodoo Dancer made $1million.

Consigned by Idle Hour Farm, the stylish bay was offered as Lot 98 and knocked down to Briggs and Cromartie Bloodstock, Inc.

He is the second foal of quality Kingmambo mare Voodoo Dancer, a winner of 11 races and $1.4 million in prizemoney, her career highlighted by Group One victories in the Diana Handicap and Garden City Breeders Cup Handicap.

Also featuring for Giant’s Causeway on the first day of the sale was a filly from record priced mare Playful Act that was snapped up by John Warren for $850,000.

Consigned by Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency as agent for Swettenham Stud, the filly is the first foal of Group One winning Sadler’s Wells mare Playful Act, who set a world record price for a broodmare sold at public auction when purchased by Sheikh Mohammed for $10.5 million last year.

Renowned judge Demi O’Byrne was also in action signing for a cracking Giant’s Causeway colt from top producer Sheepscot for $725,000.

Presented by Eaton Sales, the handsome chestnut colt is a half-brother to French Group One winner Astronomer Royal and US Group Two winner Navesink River.
