Danehill Dancer Filly Impressive

27th August 2008

Much talked about filly Kimillsy (3f Danehill Dancer x Lady Fidelia, by Snippets) made it back to the races at Canterbury on Wednesday after being sidelined through injury and showed plenty of ability with a very easy win.

A striking bay by Danehill Dancer, Kimillsy finished second beaten a length behind subsequent stakes-winner She’s Meaner on debut back in January and was resuming from a spell of 31 weeks.

“Her second to She’s Meaner was a great run, but she pulled up sore after that and we found a bone chip, which was taken out and then she had to have three months off, so it’s great to have her back,” said delighted trainer Kim Waugh, who plans to look at some races in the Princess Series for her charge.

Kimillsy made light work of winning the 1200 metre fillies maiden, camping just off the speed and then skipping away to win by more than two lengths in a dominant display.

“She’s a lovely filly and has a physique more like a colt,” said winning rider Glen Boss.

“She was well above herself today and carried 58 kg, so she’s done a great job.”

Purchased by Victorian bloodstock agent Rob Roulston for $235,000 from the Coolmore draft at the 2007 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Kimillsy is from stakes-winning Snippets mare Lady Fidelia.

Kimillsy’s sire Danehill Dancer  is enjoying a great run in both hemispheres at present and it will be no surprise to see her add to his growing tally of global stakes-winners.

Also back from a spell with a facile win was smart mare La Goulue (4m Danehill Dancer x Yes She Cancan, by Canny Lad) who bolted in by four lengths at Moonee Valley in the Ratings 82 mares event over 1000 metres.

A $70,000 purchase for Raheen Stud from the Vinery draft at the 2006 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, the Peter Moody trained La Goulue has won three of eight starts and will be set for some of the Black Type mares races during the spring carnival.
