Five Length Win for Top Price Filly
26th August 2008
Movin’ Out (3f Encosta de Lago x Twyla, by Danehill) , the top priced filly from the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale shook off maiden status with a sparkling five length win at the metropolitan meeting at Newcastle on Tuesday. The Peter Snowden trained daughter of champion sire Encosta de Lago was sent out favourite following an unlucky second at her previous start and made amends this time with a scintillating win.
She was able to cross from the outside barrier to travel midfield and when asked for an effort swept to the lead and raced away to win the 1400 metre maiden in a breeze at just her third race start.
A $2.2 million purchase for Woodlands Stud from the Coolmore draft, Movin’ Out now races for Sheikh Mohammed following the Darley takeover of Ingham Bloodstock.
A November foal that has needed some time to mature, Movin’ Out is the sixth foal of royally bred Danehill mare Twyla, a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Redoute’s Choice, Platinum Scissors and Al Maher f rom stellar producer Dancing Show (USA).
Twyla has now had five foals to race all winners, with Adelaide stakes-winner Murjana the best of them, although possibly not for long if Movin’ Out can deliver on her obvious potential.
Twyla has a yearling full sister to Movin’ Out and is due to foal to Encosta de Lago again this spring.
Encosta de Lago made it a winning double on the day with a return to form for Group Two QTC Brisbane Cup winner Newport (6g Encosta de Lago x Sibelienne, by Nishapour), who took out the welter over 1400 metres at his first run back from a spell.
