Group Three Gardenia for Swift Temper

17th August 2008

On fire in recent weeks with a flood of stakes-winners, Giant’s Causeway added a new name to his list of superior offspring when Swift Temper (4m Giant’s Causeway x Glasgow’s Gold, by Seeking the Gold) captured the Group Three Gardenia Handicap at Ellis Park on Saturday.

Now prepared by Dale Romans after several changes of trainer, Swift Temper turned in a career best performance, racing handy throughout and then careering away to take the one mile contest for fillies and mares by four and a half lengths in a dominant display.

Although her recent form was hardly encouraging, Swift Temper did contest many of the better races as a three year-old so has always had a measure of ability and now has a Black Type success to show for it.

Bred in Kentucky by Richard Nip and Omar Trevino, Swift Temper made $285,000 at the 2005 Keeneland September Yearling Sale and is out of the Seeking the Gold mare Glasgow’s Gold.

Swift Temper is the 15th North American stakes-winner this year for Giant’s Causeway, the son of Storm Cat being the leading sire by individual stakes-winners.
