Juveniles Fly for FuPeg
10th August 2008
Fusaichi Pegasus was represented by a treble of juvenile winners in North America on Saturday with wins for Flying Private, Flying Pegasus and Arashi Cat.Having his third race start, Flying Private (2c Fusaichi Pegasus x Beautiful Treasure, by Unbridled) jumped swiftly and was always on the pace before drawing clear to win the six-furlong contest at Saratoga by three-quarters of a length.
Prepared by D Wayne Lucas, Flying Private was the most expensive yearling sired by Fusaichi Pegasus in 2007 when he fetched $700,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale and is from the stakes-placed Beautiful Treasure.
The Ralph Nicks trained Flying Pegasus (2c Fusaichi Pegasus x Lilly Capote, by Capote) made it two wins from as many starts when he scored over six furlongs at Delaware.
A touch slow from the gates, he found himself boxed in on the rails but when able to get clear in the straight he accelerated impressively to win by a length.
Bred and retained to race by James Spence, Flying Pegasus is a full brother to Group Two placed Mythical Pegasus being from the Group Three winning Capote mare Lilly Capote.
A $200,000 purchase from the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, Arashi Cat (2c Fusaichi Pegasus x A Chance of Storm, by Storm Cat) made a winning debut at Del Mar when he powered home to win over six and a half furlongs on the all weather track.
A half-brother to the stakes-winner Grass World, Arashi Cat is prepared by Jeff Mullins for Dean De Renzo and Randall Hartley.
