Danehill Dancer Juveniles on Top

8th August 2008

Danehill Dancer is currently the leading sire of juveniles in Europe and added a new two year-old stakes-winner to the tally when the Aidan O’Brien trained colt Westphalia (2c Danehill Dancer x Pharapache, by Lyphard) captured the Listed Coolmore Hurricane Run Stakes at Tipperary on Thursday.

A progressive type, Westphalia landed his first Black Type success in defeating his stablemate Sawtooth Mountain (2c Johannesburg x American Jewel, by Quiet American) by three lengths in the seven furlong contest.

Westphalia  settled last in the field of five and swept to the lead with a furlong to run in a performance that will have connections looking at even better races up to a mile, his overall record now two wins and two placings from four starts.

Raced by Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith and Susan Magnier, Westphalia is a beautifully bred colt being from the outstanding producer Pharapache, the dam of six winners including Group Three winner Cliquot, stakes-winner Stockholder as well as stakes-placed performers Lily’s Lad and Maggie Jordan.

Westphalia is one of 13 stakes-winners in Europe this year for Danehill Dancer, who will return to Coolmore Australia this spring at a fee of $110,000.
