Tale of the Cat Colts Breaks Maiden at Saratoga

Valiancy (Tale of the Cat -- Sobinka, by Sadler's Wells) broke his maiden at second asking at Saratoga on Thursday with a decisive 3 1/4-length score in a maiden special weight. The two-year-old colt, bred by John Gunther and owned by Padua Stables, grabbed the lead at the 3/8 pole of the 5 1/2-furlong test and drew clear in the stretch under hand urging. Valiancy has finished first and second in his two career starts.
