Carriage Trail Takes De La Rose Stakes at Saratoga

30th July 2008

Carriage Trail (Giant's Causeway -- Manoa, by Seeking the Gold) made a late charge to win the De La Rose Stakes at Saratoga by a nose on Wednesday.

The five-year-old mare, owned and bred by Stuart Janney and the Phipps Stable, patiently bid her time along the rail for much of the one-mile turf contest. Swinging wide in the final turn, Carriage Trail weathered a bump with a competitor in the stretch and finished well to win the race in a head bob.

It is the fifth career victory for Carriage Trail, who has now won more than a quarter million dollars in her career.
