New Stakes-Winner for Choisir
28th July 2008
Currently the leading second season sire in Australia by individual winners, former champion sprinter Choisir featured in England on Sunday when Choose Your Moment (3c Choisir x Time Will Show, by Exit to Nowhere) took the Listed Pomfret Stakes over a mile at Pontefract. The Patrick Haslam trained colt stalked the pace and then opened up to win his first Black Type assignment by three lengths, giving him the overall record of three wins and four placings from eight starts..
A 75,000 pound purchase from the Goffs Breeze Up Sale in March last year for Amanda Skiffington, Choose Your Moment is raced by Mr and Mrs Duncan Davidson.
The seventh stakes-winner worldwide for Choisir, Choose Your Moment is from the Exit to Nowhere mare Time Will Show.
Unique in paving the way for future Australian sprinters in claiming that memorable Royal Ascot double of King’s Stand Stakes and Golden Jubilee in 2003, Choisir has also proven a success at stud.
The Champion First Season Sire in Australia last season by earnings, Choisir will finish third this year on the second season sires list by earnings behind Hussonet and Rock of Gibraltar, but is in front of that duo on the score of individual winners with 44 to his credit.
Among them are top class fillies Hurried Choice, Occurrence and Anatomica, who finished fourth in the Group One STC Golden Slipper Stakes behind top colts Sebring and Von Costa de Hero.
Choisir is due back at Coolmore Australia this spring at a fee of $33,000.
