New Stakes-Winner for Van Nistelrooy
27th July 2008
The Minnesota Derby at Canterbury Downs on Saturday was won by improving three year-old Cubfanbudman (3g Van Nistelrooy x Strumming, by Cure the Blues), who scored by a length and a quarter.Trained by Bruice Reicken for owner Anthony J Didier, Cubfanbudman took his record to two wins and two placings from just four starts.
Cubfanbudman becomes the 10th stakes-winner worldwide for Van Nistelrooy and is from the Cure the Blues mare Strumming, a winner of nine races and half-sister to a Canadian Group Two winner in Native Nova.
Van Nistelrooy was the leading first season sire in the US last year by individual winners and is performing well again this year with over 40 winners including smart US stakes-winner Starry Pursuit, English stakes-winner Raymi Coya and Group placed runners Elusive Lady and Nistle’s Crunch.
