Ninth Winner for Lion Heart
7th July 2008
Lion Heart kept the winners coming on Sunday with Bear’s Rocket (2c Lion Heart x Aim for the Moon, Deputy Minister) saluting in the five furlong juvenile maiden at Woodbine.Showing the benefit of race experience, the Reade Baker trained colt improved at his second outing to cruise clear for an easy two and a quarter length victory to become winner number nine for his exciting young sire.
Raced by Bear Stables Ltd, Bear’s Rocket was purchased for $350,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July Sale and is from the Deputy Minster mare Aim for the Moon, a half-sister to stakes-winner Amos from the immediate family of Group One winner Lady Joanne.
The extended family includes outstanding Group One stars such as Tentam, Tappiano, Known Fact and Gone West, so he’s a colt with some real depth to his pedigree.
Lion Heart has been on fire over the weekend with a Group Three winner in Azul Leon, another Group place-getter in Lyin’ Heart and two new winners to bring his tally to nine and a clear lead on the US first season sires list.
