Encosta de Lago Cracks $10Million

Coolmore heavyweight Encosta de Lago passed a milestone at the weekend, his progeny earnings for the season cracking the $10 million mark following the win of seven year-old gelding Geeorb in the $150,000 Crisp Steeple at Flemington.Geeorb’s success over 4000 metres just goes to show there is nothing the Encosta’s can’t turn their hand to, his 124 individual winners scoring over all distances, at all ages and in all conditions.
Encosta de Lago will be crowned champion Australian sire of 2007/2008 and is also the leading sire by individual stakes-winners with a dozen Black Type winners led by Group One winners Sirmione, Racing to Win and Shadoways, plus a further four Group Two winners including Golden Slipper runner-up Von Costa de Hero.
