HK Feature Winner for Van Nistelrooy

23rd June 2008

The Sha Tin Sprint Trophy for two and three year-olds was run on Sunday in Hong Kong over 1200 metres with victory going to the NZ bred three year-old Master Elite (3g Van Nistelrooy x Pageant, by Oregon) , who was making his debut.

With leading rider Gerald Mosse in the saddle, the Michael Chang trained gelding found the line strongly to win the keenly contested event by a head in somewhat of an upset.

Bred and offered for sale by Fairdale Stud at the 2006 NZB Premier Yearling Sale, Master Elite was snapped up by Michael Chang Racing for just $90,000.

A three-quarter brother to stakes-placed Listen Pal, Master Elite is from the Oregon mare Pageant, a half-sister to the dam of multiple Group One winner Miltak.
