29-length winner for Golan

16th June 2008

The four-year-old Golan Way (4g Golan-Silk Daisy, by Barathea) completed a three-timer at Stratford on Sunday when running away with a two-mile novice hurdle by 29 lengths.

Sheena West’s stable star - who won similar events at Stratford and Huntingdon last month - justified 11/10 favouritism for this latest success when he barely saw another rival under jockey Jamie Goldstein.

"We’re only a small stable and to have a horse like him, who could be very good, is exciting. But I wouldn’t want him to be running under big weights in handicaps through the summer, so I’ll put him out in a field for a couple of months now and start him off again in the autumn," said West.

Golan Way - who was bought by West for 13,000gns at Doncaster in January - was bred by Lewis Caterers.
