Ice Queen wins G3 for Danehill Dancer
16th June 2008
Danehill Dancer continued an excellent season at Cork on Sunday when the Aidan O’Brien-trained Ice Queen (3f Danehill Dancer-Wadud, by Nashwan) bounced backed from a disappointing run in the G1 Oaks to win the G3 Kerry Group Noblesse Stakes.
Ice Queen had won a Cork maiden in March and always raced prominently in Sunday’s 1m 4f event, going on to score by a length and three-quarters. There was a dead-heat for second for two Coolmore-sired fillies in Beach Bunny (3f High Chaparral-Miss Hawai, by Peintre Celebre) and Profound Beauty (4f Danehill-Diamond Trim, by Highest Honor).
"Ice Queen came out of Epsom well and we thought we would send her back to Cork, as she handled the track well when she won her maiden," O’Brien told the Racing Post. "There should be more to come with her."
Danehill Dancer - who also sired the easy juvenile maiden winner What’s Up Pussycat (2f Danehill Dancer-Sangitta, by Royal Academy) - is set to have several leading contenders at Royal Ascot this week including likely G2 Queen Mary Stakes favourite Danehill Destiny (2f Danehill Dancer-Comeraincomeshine, by Night Shift).
