Seven in a Week for Encosta
6th June 2008
On track to become Champion Australian Sire for the first time this season, Coolmore heavyweight Encosta de Lago enjoyed a productive week with seven winners in the seven-day period ending Wednesday June 4 to be named Breednet Sire of the Week. His stars included the smart stakes-winner Tan Tat de Lago who burst back to top form at Eagle Farm last Saturday when beating the colts to win the Listed event over 1400 metres for three year-olds.
Also helping Encosta along was a memorable Wednesday when he had four metro winners in three states with Infatuation and Ponte de Lima scoring at Sandown in Melbourne, Summer Daze at Canterbury in Sydney and Letmebe at Doomben in Brisbane.
With some 116 winners and progeny earnings this season in excess of $9.5 million, Encosta de Lago is the proverbial country mile ahead of his rivals, a remarkable performance given that it has been achieved by consistency rather than the deeds of one superstar.
