31st May 2008
Quality filly Tan Tat de Lago (3f Encosta de Lago x Tan Tat Star, by Umatilla) returned to her best form at Eagle Farm on Saturday when she beat the colts in the Listed QTC Conrad Treasury Stakes over 1400 metres.Undefeated on slow and heavy ground, the Peter Moody trained Tan Tat de Lago revelled in the wet conditions, powering home to defeat Royal Discretion (3g Royal Academy x Discretion, by Canny Lad) by the best part of a length with Vandalo (3g Van Nistelrooy x Riverly Lass, by Gleam Machine) in third place.
Already a Group Three winner last spring when successful in the VRC Danehill Stakes at Flemington, Tan Tat de Lago is a high class filly at her best with an overall record of six wins from 13 starts with prizemoney of $336,150.
Bred and retained to race by the Tung family, Tan Tat de Lago is the first foal of the metropolitan winning Umatilla mare Tan Tat Star, a full sister to former top class galloper Umrum, a winner of 14 races and $1.5 million in prizemoney including the VATC Toorak Handicap twice.
Tan Tat de Lago is one of a dozen stakes-winners this season for Encosta de Lago who will be crowned Champion Sire by earnings at the end of the current Australian racing season.
