New Stakes-Winner for Galileo

Champion sire Galileo posted a new stakes-winner in Australia when Luvuleo (4g Galileo x Luvscay, by Marscay) ran out an easy winner in the Listed STC W.J. McKell Cup at Rosehill on Satruday.Having his first attempt at 2400 metres, the Graeme Rogerson trained gelding came up trumps, surging strongly at the finish to win by a length and a half after racing handy throughout.
Down the track at his previous start in the Group One BTC Doomben Cup, Luvuleo bounced back with a vengeance taking his overall record to three wins and six placings from 20 starts with prizemoney of $265,570, prompting talk of a tilt at the Group Two QTC Brisbane Cup on Monday week.
"Doomben didn't really suit him the other day and he might go back up for the Brisbane Cup," said stable foreman Roger Elliott.
"Graeme will see how he pulls up and make a call."
Bred and offered for sale by Emirates Park, Luvuleo was bought back for $100,000 at the 2005 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and races for Emirates principal H E Nasser Abdullah Hussain Lootah.
He is from the Marscay mare Luvscay, a half-sister to Group Three winner Almazyoon, the dam of stakes-winner El Maze.
Galileo shuttled to Australia for five seasons and his last Australian crop are weanlings.
