£185,000 Dr Massini five-year-old tops day two at Doncaster

23rd May 2008

Door Boy (5g Dr Massini-Door Stopper, by Flemensfirth) was the star turn on day two of the Spring Sale at Doncaster on Wednesday when selling for £185,000 to trainer Howard Johnson.

The five-year-old won a point-to-point at Kildorrery in February for owner John O’Halloran and, after joining Jessica Harrington, went on to finish second on his first start under Rules in a bumper at Punchestown in May..

Donald McCain kicked the bidding off at £50,000 for the Jimmy Mangan-bred Door Boy but as he dropped out it was Bobby O’Ryan who provided Johnson with his opposition.

"These new horses will all be wormed and out in a field by Saturday and Door Boy, like the others, will go novice hurdling next season," said Johnson.
