Derby plan for Peintre colt
14th May 2008
The French Derby looks set to be the next port of call for the Peintre Celebre colt Trincot (3c Peintre Celebre-Royal Lights, by Royal Academy) after his win in the G3 Prix de Guiche at Chantilly on Tuesday.
The Ecurie Bader home-bred had previously beaten subsequent French 2,000 Guineas winner Falco in March and looks an improved horse this year.
"He was unable to get his head in front as a two-year-old, but he was tender and immature at the time and met some very nice horses along the way," said trainer Philippe Demercastel.
Last year’s Prix de Guiche winner Lawman went on to win the G1 Prix du Jockey-Club (French Derby) and Demercastel added: "With regard to the future, we will let his owner decide if he wants to have fun on Derby Day."
