Debut Winner for Choisir
13th May 2008
Former champion sprinter Choisir posted yet another new winner at Canterbury on Tuesday when the Gai Waterhouse trained first starter Gold Water (2f Choisir x Float, by Devil's Bag) led throughout to win easily.Sent out favourite, she gave nothing else a look in as she dashed clear to win the 1250 metre juvenile fillies maiden in convincing style.
Gold Water is a home bred for the Cojuangco family although does not race in the red and black colours of Gooree Stud.
Gold Water is the sixth living foal of the American bred Float, a Devil’s Bag mare that traces back to Moccasin, the ancestress of several other Gooree bred winners including Group Three winner Queen of the Hill and promising gelding Rabbuka, a good winner at Hawkesbury last Saturday.
Float was exported to the Phillippines last year but does have a yearling full brother to Gold Water in the pipeline.
Choisir has been churning out the winners in Australia this season and has 37 to his credit making him a clear leader amongst second season sires in terms of individual winners.
