Danehill Dancer filly takes Guineas trial
12th May 2008
The Dermot Weld-trained Carribean Sunset (3f Danehill Dancer-Bonheur, by Royal Academy) is set to line up in the G1 Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh on May 25 after running out a stylish winner of the G3 Derrinstown Stud 1,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown on Sunday.
Carribean Sunset hit the front a furlong and a half out and went on to beat the hot favourite Katiyra by half a length.
"She's very game, very brave, very tough and she's getting better all the time," said Weld. "She had to battle there again but she had the form to win. She'll go for the Irish 1,000 Guineas next."
Carribean Sunset, who is owned by Dr Ronan Lambe, was bred by Barronstown Stud and sold for 160,000 euros at the 2006 Goffs Million Sale.
