Derby glory for Galileo colt

12th May 2008

Galileo enjoyed more Classic success in Rome on Sunday when the Bruno Grizzetti-trained Cima De Triomphe (3c Galileo-Sopran Londa, by Danehill) took the 125th running of the G1 Derby Italiano.

Grizzetti reported that the winner, who battled on to score by half a length, will be aimed at the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in Paris in October.

Cima De Triomphe is owned by Scuderia Cocktail and was bred by Allevamento Sofim SRL.

He is the latest Classic winner for the brilliant Galileo following on from the likes of Soldier Of Fortune in last season’s G1 Irish Derby, Nightime in the 2006 G1 Irish 1,000 Guineas and Sixties Icon in the 2006 G1 English St Leger.
