Galileo filly Prima Luce recieves Classic quotes after G3 win
6th May 2008
Galileo may have narrowly missed out on another Classic success when New Approach (3c Galileo-Park Express, by Ahonoora) finished second to the Aidan O’Brien-trained Henrythenavigator in the G1 2000 Guineas on Saturday, but he had another smart winner on Sunday.
The Jim Bolger-trained Prima Luce (3f Galileo-Ramona, by Desert King) came home three-quarters of length clear of her rivals in the G3 Oratorio EBF Athasi Stakes at the Curragh and received a quote of 14/1 for the G1 Irish 1,000 Guineas and 33/1 for the G1 Oaks at Epsom.
"I have a recollection of her working really well with Lush Lashes and I thought she had a chance. She is a late-maturing filly and could be one for next year," said Bolger.
Prima Luce, who is owned by Bolger’s wife Jackie, cost 270,000 guineas as a yearling and was bred by John Connaughton.
Meanwhile the Bolgers’ Galileo filly Lush Lashes (3f Galileo-Dance For Fun, by Anabaa), who ran a great race to be a close sixth in the G1 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday, will bid for Classic glory at the Curragh next month.
"Lush Lashes will go for the G1 Irish Oaks, that's the plan at the moment," said Bolger. "And New Approach is very well. He doesn't know he didn't come out on top and he is on course for the G1 Irish 2,000 Guineas."
